Our Specialities

Design & Build

We create thoughtfully designed homes that balance architecture, interiors and practical living. From full renovations to reconfigured layouts and extensions, we manage the entire process from concept through to completion.

What sets Montagu Design & Build apart is the integration of our service. Design and build are not two separate disciplines handed between different teams – they are a single, continuous process led by the same people throughout. Our designers understand how buildings are constructed. Our builders understand how spaces are designed. The result is a home where architecture, interiors and craftsmanship speak the same language.

We work across the full spectrum of residential projects – from complete new builds and whole-home transformations to carefully considered single-room interventions – always with the same commitment to quality and detail.

We design spaces around how people actually live. From structural layouts and flow to lighting, materials and bespoke detailing, we shape interiors that feel calm, functional and timeless.

Interior architecture is about more than aesthetics. It is about understanding how a home feels to move through – the quality of light at different times of day, the way rooms connect and transition, the relationship between ceiling heights and proportions, the balance of openness and enclosure. These are the considerations that sit at the heart of our interior architectural work.

Whether we are restoring character and integrity to a period property or defining a clear, contemporary language for a modern home, we focus on the elements that endure: well-resolved proportions, quality materials and detailing that rewards a closer look.

We deliver high-quality residential renovations with a fully managed approach. From structural alterations and extensions to complete interior remodelling, we coordinate every stage of the project with trusted specialists and experienced trades.

A renovation handled well should feel effortless for the client. That means clear communication, realistic programmes, transparent costings and a team that takes genuine ownership of the process – not just the parts that are straightforward, but the complications and decisions that arise along the way.

We work with a long-established network of trusted structural engineers, planning consultants and skilled trades – all of whom understand our standards and our way of working. Every project is managed by a dedicated Montagu’s project lead who coordinates all parties and keeps the client informed at every stage.

Beautiful cabinetry remains at the heart of what we do. Every kitchen, dressing room, media wall or fitted interior is designed specifically for the space and crafted with exceptional attention to detail.

A Montagu’s kitchen begins not with a catalogue, but with a conversation. We take the time to understand how you cook, how your household moves through the space, what you need the kitchen to do – and what you want it to feel like. From that, we design something entirely specific to you and to your home.

Every piece is handcrafted in our 5,000 sq ft Leicester workshop. We combine traditional joinery techniques with modern precision manufacturing – working across painted classic cabinetry, sleek handleless contemporary designs, and everything in between. Worktops, hardware, appliances and lighting are all specified as part of a unified design, so the finished kitchen feels completely cohesive.

A successful project relies on careful planning, clear communication and confident execution. We oversee every aspect of the build process, coordinating consultants, contractors, suppliers and schedules to ensure projects run smoothly from start to finish.

The most beautifully designed home can be undermined by poor delivery. Delays, miscommunication and fragmented responsibility are the most common sources of frustration in residential projects – and they are almost always the result of inadequate project management.

At Montagu’s, every project has a dedicated lead who takes full ownership of the programme, the budget and the quality of delivery. They are your single point of contact throughout, responsible for coordinating every consultant, trade and supplier involved. We use detailed pre-construction planning to anticipate and resolve issues before they reach site.

Beyond kitchens, we design and create complete interior environments – dressing rooms, studies, boot rooms, utility spaces, bars, libraries and fitted furniture – where every detail is considered to create interiors that feel cohesive, refined and personal to the property.

The most memorable homes are defined not just by their principal rooms, but by the quality and consistency of every space within them. A beautifully designed hallway. A boot room that is as practical as it is considered. A study fitted out with quiet, purposeful detail. A dressing room that brings genuine order and elegance to the everyday.

Each project is approached with the same rigour as our kitchens: a specific design developed for the exact space, cabinetry made in our own workshop, and materials selected to complement the wider interior. Whether you are fitting out a single room or commissioning a complete interior across an entire property, our team will create spaces that feel genuinely resolved.

Our Workshop

At the heart of Montagu is our new 5,000 sq ft workshop in Burton on the Wolds – where ideas become reality. Equipped with precision machinery and staffed by skilled joiners, the workshop is where our bespoke cabinetry, furniture and joinery details are brought to life before being installed in your home.
